Francis Almandarez

Francis is an artist, filmmaker, and educator working at the intersections of history, (auto)ethnography, and cultural production. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, and is currently based in Houston, Texas. Francis received an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design.

Francis’s work has been featured in exhibitions at San Antonio Museum of Art; El Museo del Barrio, New York, NY; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, TW; the Reading Room, Dallas, TX, and Houston Center for Photography, TX, among others. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Houston School of Art and serves on the Board of DiverseWorks, Houston.
